praise God, I am desperated

Praise God, I am amazingly desperated. So does Ian, My boss, he can’t sleep and almost lost his project! We are desperated!

My Employment Pass application was rejected after almost 4 times appeal. And after long negotiation with the authority in MOM, we arrived at one conclusion which was provided by them; His company is too young and small and I don’t have enough ‘good experience’ (???I have more than 4 years experiences in Indonesia and Shanghai with large exposure in architecture, landscape and urban design projects in the most dynamic developing environment and working with reputable design company, which one of them was the one posted me from Singapore. If I am lacking of that experiences that they’re talking about, why I can find other two job offers at EP level within 3 days in one hour interview? Who is at the best position to decide the significance of experience and skills; the company which know exactly what they need or MOM officer who ‘maybe’ has no idea at all about the design job?) and my salary is too low for EP application (what??? my salary is MUCH higher than S$ 2500, which is stated in MOM regulation as the standar for EP application)

Since I was in Shanghai I’ve been trying at least 3 times EP assesment tool, and I was definitely successful for that.

I can’t believe! In this such an advance country which offers ‘A WORLD OF OPPORTUNITY’, there are still plenty on un-clear policies and hassels! And I am here and entrapped without opportunity.

I was embarassed with all this circumstances. And so was Ian, I am here because of the job he offered. And nobody to blame for that! For hours we argued and he shouted like crazy at me! That’s it, I am quit! He’s attitude was terrible, so emotional, I can’t believe it, for such a professional architect like him :(

Now my relation with Ian is getting better. And I have more motivation to enjoy the work and disscusion with him. Ian is just one of the best architect I’ve ever met. Graduated from one of the most prestigious school in the world; Architectural Association  in London and studied music at Royal Academy of Music,

Spore

yes, as what i guessed; in general i’d prefer shanghai to spore.
the four seasons, the challange and the dynamism of the city.
tapi soal makanan en urban landscape, singapore much better.

relax, not to worry, what Ian has always said!

hope so…
but i just dont like to ‘float’ without certain direction…
hope spore will be the better place for next aim!

first day off

September 21st, 2006 by irsphoto

it’s great today!
Lots of things to do within these days!

Meninggalkan HMA ternyata merupakan saat2 yang mengharukan. So touching deh!
Sambutan perpisahan yang hangat dari teman2 kerja, ucapan selamat jalan dan small gift yang unxpected dari Mr. Hirokawa, and wow salary (hahaha.., more then what i guess :)), dan yang bener2 bikin ga tahan, Sakai san dengan special ngasih gw cd favorit japanese collection;

"There are some of my favourite songs. (I choose all Japanese songs.) If you like them, I am really happy. Listen and remember me. See you again. Good luck, Makiko."

Duh, bener2 touching deh…

i’ll be missing HMA, all the crew, and it’s memories…
Japan; Tokyo will be my travel destination in the list. I hope so, since it’s very expensive!
See you all guys!

Jazzy

city light + jazz + a cup of hot chocolate = romance.

Autumn is coming closer, the cold wind is blowing trough my small window where I enjoy the vision.

And I know my days is more and more separated from the four season, I am going…, I am coming… my jazzy jazzy nite!(Shanghai, Sept 16 2006)

last full week

‘neeed myyy help?’

‘no, thanks, i have nothing to do too just serch images’ reply suzuki san….

(lol???)

Minggu2 ini yang jelas banyak meeeting.. ‘meet the parents’, meet old friend for dinner, old colleages, meet relatives, …

L A B E L

Baru empat tahun melalang buana. Susah emang melalang buana dengan ‘label’ made in indonesia. I am from indonesia. what do people in this world think bout this country?

‘O…, i think you’re singaporean.’ said my boss, ingat gw waktu itu gw interview di perush ini.

‘No, I am INDONESIAN, i work for singapore company’

‘Do you work in singapore before?’

‘No.’

‘So, you study in singapore?’

‘No, Indonesia’.

‘How can they sent you here? where did you study?’

‘Indonesia’

‘So, you graduate with the best honour?’

‘No, I didn’t…’

‘….???’

So, don’t mention indonesia to sell your service, unlike japan, or germany, or aussie or anything else…

‘we are a multiculture company. Most of our designers are from Japan and China. And we have some from Sweden, swisstzerland, australia, and from south east asia.

Well, no comment. It’s nobody’s fault.

’so u’d better change you nationality, so no more people look down on u’ kata temanku dangan penuh empati..

’sorry? it’s not my problem, it’s THIER problem, to judge me coz of my label’
